Sunday, March 4th, 1:00- 4:00 PM
Instructor: Fran Meneley
These postcards are wild and crazy! To create them, local artist Fran Meneley starts with a purchased card. She then transforms it using a variety of simple-to-learn techniques. Voila! The humble card is now a small piece of mail art. Fran will demonstrate her favorite techniques and bring in a wealth of ephemera and art supplies from her private stash for you to work with. Then it’s time to experiment away! You’ll leave class with a couple of altered cards that are ready for a stamp and a brief note, or let the card itself be the message. It's no surprise that at Two Hands Paperie we love pens, inks, nice paper, and handwritten notes. We say “fie” on texts and emails with their cold, hard, sans-serif fonts! Join the “slow communication” crowd and connect with a friend through a message made more personal because it’s in your handwriting and hand decorated.
Please bring the following materials:
- Glue stick
- Optional: Favorite postcards
- Optional: small sharp scissors suitable for fine cutting
- Optional: small, flat embellishments you'd like to use
Cancellations made up to 14 days prior to the first class meeting will be refunded or, at the participant's option, used to pay for another class. Two Hands Paperie will retain a $10 processing fee for EACH class cancelled by a participant. After 14 days, there is no refund or credit. In addition, the fee for a class cancelled within this 14-day timeframe by a participant cannot be transferred to pay for another class. These policies are to ensure that teachers are compensated for their investment in materials and in time spent preparing for the class. We reserve the right to cancel a class if fewer than 3 students enroll 48 hours prior to the scheduled class time. If for any reason Two Hands Paperie cancels a class, students will be called at the phone number on file and refunded the FULL class fee.
Fran Meneley is an artist, wife, and mother living on the high plains of Colorado. She's mad about journaling and has been at it in her studio and on the road for twelve years. She loves to cook and eat (not in that order), travel and explore (always, anywhere), garden sporadically (and in small containers), museum hop, blog (exploring life, travel, and art - the good stuff), dance (with or without a partner), teach art (big and tiny humans), and scavenge and collect. Fran is inspired by the intricacies and divine beauty of nature, and is a lifelong learner and experimenter. In a former life she was Associate Publisher of a nationally circulated environmental magazine called Buzzworm. You can find her work on her website: franmeneley.com and in these publications: 1,000 Artist Journal Pages by Dawn DeVries Sokol, Beaded Embellishment by Amy Clarke, 500 Beaded Objects by Lark Books, and in issues of the following magazines: Cloth Paper Scissors, Studios, and Beadwork. Her work is also in The Brooklyn Art Library's Sketchbook Project.
