Between the Lines – Artistic Coloring
Sunday, December 3rd, noon-4:00PM
Instructor: Annie Reiser
Coloring books for adults are everywhere these days. Sophisticated line drawings draw us back to a favorite past time that’s fun and relaxing – meditative almost. No wonder the books have become wildly popular! Whether you like to work on your own designs or in a purchased book, you’ll learn how to go beyond just basic coloring in this class with botanical illustrator and certified Zentangle® teacher Annie Reiser. She’ll share basic techniques for layering and shading colors that will make your page come to life. She’ll also divulge a few simple tricks of the trade that can make all the difference in your final piece. These techniques work perfectly for Zentangle® line drawings as well. Annie will provide practice sheets for you to work with before starting on the actual coloring project that she provides.
Please bring the following optional materials for class:
- sketch or notebook
- colored pencils (Faber Castell and Prisma Colors work well) as well as HB or B graphite pencils
Annie Reiser has returned to what feeds her soul - art. Years ago she earned degrees in both German and art. Family and career took her down other pathways, but art has always been a lifetime companion. A potter, spinner, knitter, weaver, and painter, Annie now devotes more of her creative time to illustrating nature. She's a graduate of the Denver Botanic Gardens School of Botanical Art and Illustration, where she teaches part-time. She's also an active member of the Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists and the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators. Annie is a certified Zentangle(R) teacher (CZT) and "zentangles" daily. Her artwork has been displayed in juried shows and published in books. See more at http://www.botangle.net.
