Cavallini & Co. Journalino Medium Softbound Leather Journals measure 3.75x 4.50 inches- just a bit larger than the standard size Journalino. Available in indigo, charcoal, persimmon, and black. And just like the small Journalino, the medium size is filled with high quality, unlined, cream laid paper with 352 pages (175 sheets). A leather thong wraps journal flap to secure it closed. A great size for recording all of your travel adventures. Made in Italy.
Was really excited to try this journal. Love the leather cover and enclosure strap.
But the love affair ends there. I've been using it for a little over a week; seven pages written. Booklet bundles (leaf sections) are already starting to separate from the internal binding -- poor leaf attachment.
The paper is probably ok for pencil, gel and roller ball pens, etc. However, it is unworthy of fountain pens. Feathers pretty bad for some inks, and ghosts through to the other side of the page. The surface is also kind of rough. Maybe that's intentional -- some people may like that. But a good finished paper should not be this rough, IMHO.
Overall, it is on par with the build quality of the hardback Moleskine notebooks, which is not saying much.
I will stick with my Rhodia Rhodiarama notebooks until I find something superior to them.
