DIY Holiday Stamps NEW! Class
Saturday, December 1, 2-5pm
Instructor: Hannah Hazel
Sneak a little creative time into the mad holiday rush! Design and carve a rubber stamp with Hannah Hazel of Blue Grama Stamps. There are so many fun ways to play with the finished stamp: personalize some gift tags, embellish boxes, decorate wrapping paper, make greeting cards, decorate envelopes. It’s remarkable how effective even simple shapes can be, and you’re sure to make someone smile with your stamped creations! Hannah makes learning how to carve stamps enjoyable with her clear instructions, a live demonstration, and the easy-to-use tools she has available for use in class. She’ll provide you with a piece of sustainable rubber for carving as well as reclaimed wood for mounting your completed stamp. Put it in the take-home drawstring bag, which contains a mini ink pad and instructions for carving and caring for stamps. Hannah starts the class by briefly discussing design considerations and then demonstrating a few techniques. She’ll hand out small rubber scraps for practice so that you can get a feel for how to use the tools before starting on your stamp. Create your own design or use one of Hannah’s pre-designed templates. All skill levels are welcome. The holidays are upon us – celebrate them with handmade stamps! A few summers ago, amidst a hectic living situation in a little house with a lot of people, Hannah Hazel sat down at the kitchen table with a carving tool and piece of rubber from a local craft store. She wanted to find some peace by teaching herself something new. A few band-aids and late nights later her newfound skill became an obsession. She couldn't stop! Every free moment outside of her full-time desk job was consumed with honing her carving skills and experimenting with challenging shapes, font types, and more. Hannah listed a few of her stamps on Etsy and they sold almost instantly. The consistently positive feedback from customers made her want to pour her heart and soul into her new craft. She said, “See ya later!” to her desk job, and now carves stamps (and dances around) full time in her backyard studio alongside her best friend Jesse and rescue pup Pepper. She never imagined that her hobby could lead to a wealth of opportunities to work with the local community, creative professionals, small business owners, fellow makers, and gift-givers. The personal connections she’s made with people and businesses around the world continually motivate her as an entrepreneur and artist. Hannah’s motto for her classes: “Bring a friend, make a friend – let the rubber shavings fly!” Visit her website to see more of her work: www.bluegramastamps.com
