Envelope Addressing – Add Some Pizzazz
Sunday, February 3rd,1:00-4:00pm
Instructor: Alea Clymer
Dress up those envelopes! People love receiving hand-addressed mail. To really make their day, add a little pizzazz. Give it some sparkle. Splash it with color. Add an ornamental glyph or two. Get wonky with the first letter. It’s all so simple and takes very little time. Alea Clymer, a Two Hands Paperie veteran and a fixture at the store’s Correspondence Thursday event, has a bunch of tricks she’d love to share. She’ll provide examples of different lettering fonts and envelope layouts, a list of resources, and a summary of USPS envelope regulations to help you navigate the post office jumble. Join her to see how much fun you can have animating the outside of a simple envelope.
Please bring the following materials to class:
- Favorite pen, in both standard black and colors, for writing
- Addresses of family and friends to use while practicing different techniques
- Optional: favorite watercolors, colored pencils, etc., to add color
- Optional: apron
Cancellations made up to 14 days prior to the first class meeting will be refunded or, at the participant's option, used to pay for another class. Two Hands Paperie will retain a $10 processing fee for EACH class cancelled by a participant. After 14 days, there is no refund or credit. In addition, the fee for a class cancelled within this 14-day timeframe by a participant cannot be transferred to pay for another class. These policies are to ensure that teachers are compensated for their investment in materials and in time spent preparing for the class. We reserve the right to cancel a class if fewer than 3 students enroll 48 hours prior to the scheduled class time. If for any reason Two Hands Paperie cancels a class, students will be called at the phone number on file and refunded the FULL class fee.
Alea Clymer is an artist and printmaker whose creativity was fostered by the art-integrated schools she was fortunate enough to attend while growing up in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. Her passion for art was cemented in high school during a formative summer, which she spent in Vermont studying drawing and painting at the Putney School. That experience led her to Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, where she studied Studio Art and Printmaking and developed the foundation for her lifelong identity as an artist. Having since returned to Colorado, Alea is currently the assistant manager at Two Hands Paperie. She loves that she gets to share her enthusiasm for all things paper every single day with customers! When she’s not in the shop making colorful chalkboard signs or helping someone find the perfect fountain pen, she can be found adventuring outside or drinking tea while knitting, journaling, binding books, printmaking, writing letters to her many pen pals, or drawing. You can follow her on her creative journey on Instagram @alea_clymer.
