Flowering Lotus- Blessings
Friday, December 1st, 1:00-4:00PM
Instructor: Mia Semingson
We find it hard to believe that this exquisite Lotus flower is made by repeating one simple folding pattern on multiple pieces of paper. The secret is in the clever assembly, augmented by some gentle coaxing of the leaves and petals while unfolding them. In contrast to the lotus in nature, these paper variations fashioned by Mia Semingson, co-owner of Two Hands Paperie, are a riot of color and pattern. We love the visual excitement created by combining different papers! We also love that the lotus can be used as a special blessing by writing on each piece of paper before folding – perhaps to celebrate a wedding or a new baby, or as encouragement for a dear friend. Somehow having the words partially hidden makes the blessing more meaningful. In addition, the smaller version of the lotus makes a special ornament or decoration for a package. Once you’ve learned the steps for the fold and have assembled your flower it’s quick and easy to make more. There’s time in class for you to make at least two. Even though these paper lotuses are quite different from the ones in nature, we think they still retain that aura of purity, beauty, and spiritual awakening associated with the real flower.
- All materials provided.
Cancellations made up to 14 days prior to the first class meeting will be refunded or, at the participant's option, used to pay for another class. Two Hands Paperie will retain a $10 processing fee for EACH class cancelled by a participant. After 14 days, there is no refund or credit. In addition, the fee for a class cancelled within this 14-day timeframe by a participant cannot be transferred to pay for another class. These policies are to ensure that teachers are compensated for their investment in materials and in time spent preparing for the class. We reserve the right to cancel a class if fewer than 3 students enroll 48 hours prior to the scheduled class time. If for any reason Two Hands Paperie cancels a class, students will be called at the phone number on file and refunded the FULL class fee.
