Magic Journey, Magic Journal Class
Saturday, February 15th, noon - 4:00pm
Instructor: Cynthia Morris
What if you could enjoy life as a creative journey – the type of journey where everything is magical and becomes easier and easier as you go along? It would be the grandest of all adventures! Join Cynthia Morris, a local author, artist, and writer’s coach, on a transformative journey to explore and map out the territory of your inner self. This class was born out of Cynthia’s reflection on how visual journaling literally made her an artist. Her early journals were about keeping a sketchbook and jotting down notes. When she re-visited them, though, she found them full of hidden insights about herself and immediately realized the value of journaling as a means of personal discovery. In her words, “journals reflect you back to you”. She also realized that she’d followed a similar process in each book, which was key to her ability to delve deeper into self. She’ll show you how to use this process to travel magically and capture your experiences in a meaningful way. Though Cynthia demonstrates some techniques, this class is more about how to embark on the magic journey of self-discovery than about art making. The class differs from her popular Everyday Travels – How to Capture the Wow! by focusing inward rather than outward. Cynthia’s years of work as a personal coach make this class a unique adventure. We think it will prove to be a rewarding, and magic, journey!
Please bring the following materials to class:
- A journal to write in and/or a journal that you’re currently workingon. Journals labeled “sketchbook” usually work well.
- Your favorite pen, pencil, colors, and art supplies. Only the ones you use the most, not ALL of them.
- Ephemera or memorabilia from a recent trip or a special experience in your life, or else plans for an upcoming trip.
- Glue stick or glue tape for cardstock
- Optional: A photo or two of yourself at any age that represents your most creative self.
- Optional – scissors for fine cutting
Cancellations made up to 14 days prior to the first class meeting will be refunded or, at the participant's option, used to pay for another class. Two Hands Paperie will retain a $10 processing fee for EACH class cancelled by a participant. After 14 days, there is no refund or credit. In addition, the fee for a class cancelled within this 14-day timeframe by a participant cannot be transferred to pay for another class. These policies are to ensure that teachers are compensated for their investment in materials and in time spent preparing for the class. We reserve the right to cancel a class if fewer than 3 students enroll 48 hours prior to the scheduled class time. If for any reason Two Hands Paperie cancels a class, students will be called at the phone number on file and refunded the FULL class fee.
Cynthia Morris, a published author and creativity coach, has been keeping written journals since 1994 and started filling them with colorful illustrations in 2004. She has written two e-books on how anyone can use art-making techniques to enjoy life more. Her mission? To help people have more fun and feel more creative. When Cynthia's not in her Denver office, she's riding her bicycle, practicing yoga, frolicking in the park, whipping up a feast in the kitchen, snuggled up reading a book, or popping over to Europe. Through her company Original Impulse, Cynthia leads creativity workshops in Europe like the one she teaches at Two Hands Paperie. She finds that keeping an illustrated journal makes her happy.
