Pajaki- Paper Chandeliers Class
Two Consecutive Tuesdays: September 10th & 17th, from 6-9:30pm.
Instructor: Mia Semingson
Pajaki have returned! These decorative paper chandeliers, examples of which hang in the store, symbolize good wishes for health and happiness. Pajaki originated in an area of Poland famous for its riotously colorful paper crafts. Contemporary versions of this charming folk art are simple and fun to make. Mia Semingson, co-owner of Two Hands Paperie and Make My Notebook, is a great lover of Pajaki and enjoys teaching others her version of this traditional art. The class will be held on two evenings, one week apart. On the first evening you’ll build the chandelier’s airy, web-like frame from a wooden hoop, cotton twine, small colorful balls, and specialty paper straws. On the second evening you’ll decorate the frame with flowers, pompoms, decorative shapes, and just about anything you can imagine and create. As part of the class Mia will show you how simple it is to make crepe paper tassels, simple flowers, and other embellishments from paper – anything goes. And the more colorful, the better!
Please bring the following optional materials:
- shaped paper punches (no larger than 1")
- favorite decorative papers
- food and waterbottle
Cancellations made up to 14 days prior to the first class meeting will be refunded or, at the participant's option, used to pay for another class. Two Hands Paperie will retain a $10 processing fee for EACH class cancelled by a participant. After 14 days, there is no refund or credit. In addition, the fee for a class cancelled within this 14-day timeframe by a participant cannot be transferred to pay for another class. These policies are to ensure that teachers are compensated for their investment in materials and in time spent preparing for the class. We reserve the right to cancel a class if fewer than 3 students enroll 48 hours prior to the scheduled class time. If for any reason Two Hands Paperie cancels a class, students will be called at the phone number on file and refunded the FULL class fee.
