Pet Portraits NEW! Class
Saturday, April 27th, 10:30-1:00pm
Instructor: Courtney Cerruti.
What a wonderful way to capture your pet’s quirky personality! These charming little portraits will do your pet proud. The simple technique that artist Courtney Cerruti teaches is made to order for novices. (For those of you who are more experienced, the technique is a useful addition to your tool kit. After all, Andy Warhol used it!) The tools are simple: a pointed pen, acrylic ink, watercolors, and paper. The process is equally simple – almost like tracing, but not quite. Bring in a photo, or several, of your pet and join in the fun with Courtney. We bet there will lots of tales shared around the table about the misadventures of pets. Besides the humorous stories, there’s a bonus to the class. Once you learn the basic technique it can be used in all sorts of ways. You’ll leave class with tools and materials so that you can continue experimenting. Note that Courtney will bring a few pet photos to experiment with in class.
Please bring the following materials to class:
Favorite pet photos. Though you won’t be drawing on the photos, you might want to bring photocopies as a precaution.
Optional: favorite dip pen with a pointed (not chisel-edged) nib.
Optional: favorite watercolors and brush
Cancellations made up to 14 days prior to the first class meeting will be refunded or, at the participant's option, used to pay for another class. Two Hands Paperie will retain a $10 processing fee for EACH class cancelled by a participant. After 14 days, there is no refund or credit. In addition, the fee for a class cancelled within this 14-day timeframe by a participant cannot be transferred to pay for another class. These policies are to ensure that teachers are compensated for their investment in materials and in time spent preparing for the class. We reserve the right to cancel a class if fewer than 3 students enroll 48 hours prior to the scheduled class time. If for any reason Two Hands Paperie cancels a class, students will be called at the phone number on file and refunded the FULL class fee.
Courtney Cerruti is a full time artist and maker extraordinaire. She sees potential in the discarded, history in the mundane, and art in the everyday. Courtney saves everything, makes everything, and is addicted to the old and worn. In her hands, books are objects to be read and re-purposed, candy wrappers are actually paper flower petals, and toilet paper tubes morph into a menagerie of animals. Courtney lives in the San Francisco Bay Area in a tiny space where she is surrounded by paintings, beautiful objects, and myriad collections that inspire her. When not making things with a cup of tea close at hand, she can be found out and about scavenging for treasures.Courtney believes everyone is creative, and she cherishes helping people access that creativity. She teaches workshops at the San Francisco Center for the Book, in various guest locations around the country, and online at Creativebug.com. Courtney is also the author of three books- Playing with Image Transfers, Washi Tape, and Playing with Surface Design. She is an avid instagrammer at @ccerruti.
