Sacred Heart: Layered Paper Milagro
Saturday, October 28th, 10:30-2:00PM
Instructor: Mia Semingson
Milagros are a type of religious folk charm commonly used for protection and healing purposes. Their name comes from milagro, the Spanish word for miracle. The best known milagro is arguably the Sacred Heart, which symbolizes love, healing, and gratitude. For years Mia Semingson, co-owner of Two Hands Paperie, has collected Sacred Hearts in many forms. They’re the inspiration for a paper version that she makes with a simple drawing technique. The technique is made to order for people who don’t feel confident about their drawing skills. It’s also a useful new tool for those who have drawn before. After all, Andy Warhol used it! The materials are simple: a pointed pen, acrylic ink, watercolors, and paper. The process is equally simple – almost like tracing, but not really. Mia has added a new twist to her Scared Heart by layering elements for an interesting dimensional effect. She’ll bring in a selection of images and patterns for you to use in creating your own layered piece. Once you’ve learned the technique you can use it in all sorts of ways.

Cancellations made up to 14 days prior to the first class meeting will be refunded or, at the participant's option, used to pay for another class. Two Hands Paperie will retain a $10 processing fee for EACH class cancelled by a participant. After 14 days, there is no refund or credit. In addition, the fee for a class cancelled within this 14-day timeframe by a participant cannot be transferred to pay for another class. These policies are to ensure that teachers are compensated for their investment in materials and in time spent preparing for the class. We reserve the right to cancel a class if fewer than 3 students enroll 48 hours prior to the scheduled class time. If for any reason Two Hands Paperie cancels a class, students will be called at the phone number on file and refunded the FULL class fee.
