Zentangle® – Flowering Zendala Class ONLINE
Saturday, April 24, Saturday, 1-3pm MDT
Instructor: Annie Reiser
Limit: 15 students. Includes class kit + shipping
This lovely star-shaped flower is the newest Zendala from Annie Reiser, a certified Zentangle® teacher and art instructor at the Denver Botanic Gardens. A Zendala, in case you’re wondering, is the harmonious and natural union of Zentangle® and the sacred mandalas of Buddhist art. Both are meditational art forms; both result in striking designs. We’re fascinated by the visual motion of Annie’s Flowering Zendala – it seems to be spinning. Drawing the intricate pattern is straightforward. You have all the skills you need if you can make a dot, a straight line, and a circle. You’ll “step out” the strokes to learn the three basic Zentangle® patterns required for the Zendala. (To step out means to break down a pattern into its component parts and build it back up one line at a time.) Follow Annie’s instructions to ink the patterns on the Zendala tile provided in your kit, then use overlapping and shading techniques to give your finished piece depth, dimension, and movement. The Flowering Zendala is a great first project for beginners, and a delightful one for more experienced tanglers.

Annie Reiser has returned to what feeds her soul - art. Years ago she earned degrees in both German and art. Family and career took her down other pathways, but art has always been a lifetime companion. A potter, spinner, knitter, weaver, and painter, Annie now devotes more of her creative time to illustrating nature. She's a graduate of the Denver Botanic Gardens School of Botanical Art and Illustration, where she teaches part-time. She's also an active member of the Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists and the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators. Annie is a certified Zentangle® teacher (CZT) and "zentangles" daily. Her artwork has been displayed in juried shows and published in books. See more at http://www.botangle.net.
