Two Hands Sampler - Beginning Embroidery NEW! In-Store Class April 22
Two Hands Sampler - Beginning Embroidery NEW! In-Store Class
Saturday, April 22, 1-4pm
Instructor: Nanci Hill Feeney
Limit: 6 students
Class Details:
Ready to dive into the rich, comforting world of hand embroidery? Here’s your chance to learn the basics and twelve different stitches from fiber artist Nanci Hill Feeney. She’s designed an ingenious sampler using the iconic Two Hands Paperie logo, and we think it’s brilliant. (We might be a bit biased!)
Nanci provides printed instructions for the stitches and works together with you step-by-step as you take up your needle and begin. Start with the basic running stitch before progressing to the blanket stitch, the more decorative feather stitch, and beyond. Have fun playing with different colors of embroidery floss as you sew. Nanci talks briefly about how to transfer your own designs to fabric so that you can make your very own custom work of art at home.
Nanci gets you off to a good start in class on your take-home, printed sampler. Besides having learned twelve stitch patterns, you’ll leave class knowing the basics about threads, needles, using a hoop, regulating thread tension, selecting fabric, and caring for your finished piece. Quite a lot for a few hours of work!

Instructor Bio
Proud to hail from the Midwest, Nanci is a daughter of an avid quilter and volunteer. Before becoming a Mom herself she worked in the nonprofit world of arts administration in Southern California. She confesses to developing a crush on every art form she touches. Love affairs include letterpress, stained glass, graphic design, botanical illustration, needlework (sashiko, embroidery), and all things fabric (pattern design, piecing, hand appliqué, quilting).
Nanci’s been teaching various crafts for about 10 years and is known for bringing communities together to make creative and useful items for local nonprofits. She now crafts in a variety of fiber and paper arts and indulges in her love of letterpress at Black Dog Studios. Oh, and you can find her working at Two Hands Paperie most Sundays. She invites you to please stop in and say hello!
Two little known facts about Nanci – her rescue dog Poppy curls up under her workspace whenever she creates, and she was a World Champion in the Sweet Adelines International Competition. The organization, founded in 1945, is a worldwide nonprofit music education program for women that’s focused on barbershop harmonies. All we can say is Wow!
