"Life Is Short And The World Is Large" - Oliver Jeffers

In this digital age of screens and scrolling, visual journaling can be a wonderful place of respite and contemplation. Fran Meneley’s class illustrates how enriching and soul-satisfying a return to the analog world of visual journaling can be. She’s an explorer, collagist, painter, maker, teacher, and workshop facilitator who’s been journaling on the road and in her studio for over twenty years. Join Fran to learn how to make a cleverly folded, 16-page journal using a single 22x30” sheet of art paper.

Fran is known for putting together great packages for all her classes. For this one she also brings in a bin of delightful collage ephemera to share. So you can immediately start filling your journal, she demonstrates a wide range of simple techniques that she’s found most useful. For example, she shows how to create imaginative collages and – a game changer – how to make tape transfers from printed images. In addition, she demonstrates how to make basic sketches and lay out a page with a grid. She covers a lot in a single class! Time passes in a flash as you apply her techniques to the blank pages of your folded journal.

Leave at the end of class having begun your journal and with detailed instructions for making another one. More importantly, benefit from Fran’s experience incorporating a journaling practice into daily life. She essentially gifts you with a road map for shaping your journey through this big, wide world.
