Instructor: Fran Meneley
Limit: 6 students. All participants must be 15 years or older.

Class Details

Have you ever heard an inner voice whispering “I’d like to learn to draw” but it just seems too daunting? Then this class, which is for novices, is for you. It’s not strictly a drawing class, however, but more a class in learning how to connect with a piece of paper through sight, heart, and hand. Even experienced artists may enjoy it, since there’s something for everyone to explore.

Local artist Fran Meneley, who’s a devoted journaler and mark maker of long standing, leads the class. She explains what it means to make marks, emphasizing how those of each individual are unique and beautiful. A slide show with a wide-ranging variety of examples illustrates her point and provides inspiration. Most of the class is devoted to working on five exercises, which Fran has created specifically to lead you step-by-step to a finished piece. She also brings in materials from her personal stash for everyone to share. (Those who’ve taken other classes with Fran can confirm she has lots of good stuff!)

This class is an exercise in experimentation, but with a guarantee that you’ll leave with a new way of looking at and connecting with a blank sheet of paper. Just come with an open heart and mind.

An email will be sent to participants the Monday before the class. Classes with homework may receive pre-class info earlier.  No email? Double check the email address you entered when you registered and your SPAM folder. Due to SPAM filters and inbox settings, we cannot guarantee you will see, read, or open these emails. Two Hands Paperie assumes no responsibility for non-attendance of a class. Contact twohandsclasses@gmail.com with any class questions and see our Class Policies page for more information.
