American artist Robert Bissell was born in England and started out surrounded by animals on his family’s farm. After studying photography at the Royal College of Art in London and later moving to America, he spent a decade in the corporate world before starting his own catalog company. He eventually decided to turn to art full time. Bissell's works are allegories for the challenges and discoveries all living beings encounter on life’s journey. Bissell’s bears are always contemplative and curious, and seem to lead lives as complex and thought-filled as those led by humans.
